Day 180: Entertainment as a Tool for Addiction to Violence

'I'm shutting your butt down': Quentin Tarantino's bizarre TV rant at Krishnan Guru-Murthy after refusing to answer questions over movie violence

Quentin Tarantino launched an extraordinary tirade at an interviewer after refusing to answer questions about movie violence.
The Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction director erupted when Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy asked whether there was a link between scenes in his notoriously bloody films and real-life attacks.
Tarantino, 49, snapped: ‘Don’t ask me a question like that – I’m not biting. I refuse your question. I’m not your slave and you’re not my master.
'I'm not your slave': Krishnan Guru-Murthy's questions angered controversial director Quentin Tarantino - who then launched into a bizarre rant onscreen
'You can’t make me dance to your tune. I’m not a monkey. I don’t want to talk about the implications of violence... because I’ve said everything I have to say about it.
'I have explained this many times in the last 20 years.
‘I just refuse to repeat myself over and over again because you want me to for you and your show. And your ratings.’

Should we have movies that glorify violence? No. Why would we choose to get pleasure out of harming others and seeing others harmed? If you had to go through the pain and suffering that takes place in violent movies, I guarantee you would not find it pleasant. I mean, for most people, stubbing your toe – really sucks. Getting sliced and stabbed and exploded, would be much worse. No one really wants to go through that in reality.

Is violence in entertainment responsible for the violence that gets acted out in real life? No. We are responsible. Violence does not put itself on TV, does not glorify itself by creating fantasy scenes that could never really be done in reality with perfectly scripted lines so that everything sounds really cool and no one says something that isn’t funny or right on the mark, and everyone has the perfect outfit and makeup and hair and everything looks just right, and the smoke effects and the lighting and creating just the perfect ambiance for the scene. Violence in reality is really not cool at all.

However, do violent movies have an effect on us in bringing out more violence in reality? Of course. When we allow violence to be presented on our TV screens and in the movies as something cool, that is the message we’re giving and some people are going to watch this stuff and get this glorified idea of violence and want to be that cool too, and so some will end up trying it out, as for some the temptation will be too great, and they will go and cause harm.

And we know this. How many times have you walked out of a movie and there was something you really liked about it, and you are thinking-‘yeah, I’m going to try that out’, or ‘I’m going to act more like that, that was cool.’ Or you just start copying lines and behaviors that you saw in the movie.

For examples in how we are most definitely affected by that which we watch and how television and various forms of entertainment has been used to implant ideas into our minds as we essentially don’t have any clue as to how our mind operate, yet there is an entire science devoted to that and how to take advantage, check out this documentary: The Century of the Self, and also to see the influence of Propaganda watch: The Power Principle and Peace, Propaganda and the Promised Land

Some will say that it’s one’s own choice and personal freedom to be able to have things like violent movies and video games, but that ‘freedom’ is tied to the entire system that rob others of their freedom to even just live or not be raped or not be. Even if you are not the one that carries out the violence in physical reality, if you are still glorifying it and supporting it, and living that example to others, who then do go and act out on it, then you are in fact responsible.

Obviously real freedom is that which doesn’t harm anyone. You are not the only being here, you are one of billions who are no less and no more than you, and thus we can’t count ourselves as separate from everyone else, and expect that we can live according to some rules while others have other rules, like we can have freedom even if that freedom takes away another’s freedom. How can you live according to a principle of so-called ‘freedom’, when it is actually robbing others of theirs? Exactly, you can’t. That’s not actually freedom. It’s abuse. We are talking about physical violence being done unto individuals. It’s obviously not acceptable in any way whatsoever.

What is one primary reason these kind of films are allowed? Is it because there are that many people who like violence? Did they like violence before they saw it as represented as something apparently awesome and cool? Did it start with movies/media, or did it start actually within the family, where parents who live patterns of getting a kick out of violence pass it on to the children and so on from generation to generation? So it is not something that humans are born with, it is learned through the examples around us as our parents, adults, video games, movies, books, etc that are in our environment that we’re exposed to. If we only had examples where there is no making violence a positive thing, then we would not learn that behaviour. And thus, why we must stop ourselves as the patterns of accepting violence that we exist as, to take responsibility for what we are accepting and allowing to exist in this world, that leads to people being harmed in every way possible, as within the principle of do unto another as you’d have done unto you, you would not want to be the victim of a violent act.

So back to what is the primary reason these kind of films and the positive portrayal of violence is allowed? Profit. It is good for business. It makes people accept war and want to be soldiers or mercenaries and go to war, which is all very profitable for the companies that supply the merchandise used in war. I mean, until the human being become able to direct their mind, as their thoughts, feeling and emotions, we are allowing human beings to become programmed to enjoy and get pleasure from violence, which then leads to actual violence being committed. It’s like a simple math equation, where you have this plus that, equals that.

It comes down to a simple point of, do you really want to support that which supports harm? When it is something not necessary, and not even real anyway? It is simply an energetic response to a certain stimulus, which prove you’re nothing more than a preprogrammed mind controlled robot.

So if you no longer want to be mind controlled, and develop self direction to become a being of principle who has the freedom to act in the way that is most supportive for all life, take the free DIP Lite course, follow the Journey to Life blogs, and visit the forums at Desteni, to start your process to walk yourself out of your preprogammed nature and into real living as a being of real integrity and honor for life.

Here we’re continuing with the Self Forgiveness on the on the Physical/Behavior Dimension of the I Don’t Want to Do This Character/Personality in regards to working/doing my job.

Positive Dimensions Internal Changes Self Forgiveness:
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see, realize and understand how in that moment just before going to work that I had originally been stable within myself and my physical, and then went into my mind into the negative experiences of dread, anxiety and depression where I then experienced negative changes within my physical, and to then move into the positive experiences of comfort and relaxation, where my body felt more relaxed, and more energized, and my eyes weren’t as heavy, and so because my body ‘felt better’ I use this as the excuse/justification/reason to chase after the positive way in which I have a positive physical experience which is in not working, instead of sticking to the task at hand, which is to do my job, as it’s what I require to do in order to support myself effectively in this current world system situation, and a position in which I have an opportunity to really apply myself and develop skills and so expand myself and my ability to work within the current system.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not realize that as I allow this pattern in myself, so I accept and allow it in the greater, where the example which I’m living is to chase the things that I have a ‘positive experience’ toward, and to avoid that which I have a ‘negative experience’ toward, and thus I am responsible for how humanity exists as this pattern of behaviour on the world scale, where we have made entire industries formed around this point of Entertainment ad Comfort first and foremost, where you have much of consumerism based on those two points selling forms of entertainment and that which give one ‘positive experiences’ and make us ‘feel good’, as that is how we are living, in putting those points before all else, before taking care of our responsibilities.

Negative Dimensions External Changes Self Forgiveness:
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see, realize and understand how as I go into/participate in the dimensions of this character/personality and participate in the energies of the mind within the negative dimension where I manifested the physical changes/conditions of my shoulders tightening, tension in my neck, my body feeling stiff and difficult to move, and my body feeling colder, a cramping in my gut, my body feeling weak and tired, and my eyes becoming heavy, that I also changed in my physical behaviour, where I slouched down and sat further back in my chair, and became very stiff where my movements were like ‘jagged’, and thus allowing myself to become the actual physical embodiment of what I accepted and allowed myself to define myself as within/as my mind.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not question in the moment the very fact that my physical behaviour was changing and what this was showing me in terms of how I’ve so separated myself from my physical body that I don’t even see/realize the direct relationship that exists between the mind and the physical to the extent that it can influence and direct my actual physical experiences and behaviour, and then where I use the conditions which I’ve actually manifested, to then justify/excuse avoiding my responsibilities here in doing that which needs to be done, and following the ‘positive experiences’ of the mind.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not consider how the body is showing me what I am accepting and allowing myself to live as, as for example slouching in my chair and becoming the physical manifestation of depression, and thus that I should/can utilize the physical as a reference to assist me to see what I am participating in and the relationships that I’m accepting and allowing myself to exist as and to see how it is I am changing my experience in that moment instead of remaining here and stable as breath and taking care of my responsibilities effectively within working/doing my job.

Positive Dimensions External Changes Self Forgiveness:
I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not see, realize and understand how I accepted and allowed myself to participate in the negative dimensions manifesting negative internal and external behaviors, and then moving to the positive dimensions, and manifesting internal and external positive changes, becoming the embodiment of the positive energy experiences I was participating in of comfort and relaxation, where I then experienced the change of sitting up straighter from slouching, and feeling more energetic and ready to do things.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not question in that moment how/why it is that I can go into such drastically different experiences from one moment to the next, and within this not questioning what it is I’m actually doing to my physical body, as I am the one that is putting the body through these experiences, as my body was stable before I started participating in the energies of the mind, and thus I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not even consider the experience that I am putting my physical through and what the actual consequences are of participating in these dimensions and energies on my physical body.

I forgive myself that I have accepted and allowed myself to not realize that since I am the one creating these energetic experience through my participation in the dimensions and energies of the mind, that these experiences are thus not actually real, and not the natural expression of the physical body, which in itself is stable here as breath, and these experiences are the consequence of me following energy, instead of remaining here as the physical in stability, and facing my responsibilities.

In the next post we’ll continue with walking the Commitment Statements in regards to the points walked here in Self Forgiveness.

Day 144: I Don’t Want to Do This: Imagination Dimension (Part 2)

    Featured Artwork by Matti Freeman

This post is a continuation to:

We’re now continuing with the Imagination Dimension, of the ‘I Don’t Want to Do This’ Character, through which I’ve sabotaged myself from living here in/as real self expression, by allowing myself to ‘give in to temptation’ in my mind, to follow the ‘positive’ as what is interpreted by/within my mind as ‘positive’ and thus I have a ‘positive experience’ toward, and to avoid that which ‘gives me’ a ‘negative’ experience. This is the point that is missed within the new age philosophy of ‘following your feelings’ where the principle is ‘if it makes you feel good, do it – if it makes you feel bad, avoid it’ – where it’s not questioned or considered where these positive/negative feelings even come from, but you’re to allow them to direct you and your living and the very choices you make in your life. It’s not considered what is the actual consequence/outflow of when we all live this way, in following the ‘good feelings’ and avoiding what ‘makes us feel bad’, where when we look at the world at large, it’s obvious that we’re avoiding our responsibilities and the problems we’re creating, because we have negative reactions to those things, and we busy ourselves with seeking out entertainment in various forms, as that’s what makes us feel good. And so the problems just grow and never get sorted out, as we cling more and more to what positive we can get, which is less and less because we’re allowing the world problems to grow and grow.

So, this is why I walk my Journey to Life, in sorting out exactly how/were/when/why I’ve allowed myself to be directed by feelings of positive and negative, in order to stop being controlled, so that I can direct myself to take responsibility to take care of what needs to be done here, and to actually be a self-willed individual that is not simply following feelings that come up within me, undirected and without even understanding where they come from or how they’re created, as that means that I’m literally just a slave to these feelings. And so it’s through writing out specifically, what are the feelings, when/where do they come up, what is the consequence/result if I participate in them/allow them to direct me, and what would I do differently if I’m not simply following energetic feelings, through this process of writing to get to know myself actually, as how can we really know ourself when we don’t even understand how our mind operate ort where our thoughts come from or how they’re created.

Thus, continuing with the Imagination Dimension, which is the Dimension through which I imagine scenarios in my mind, which in this case of the ‘I Don’t Want to Do This’ Character, are ‘positive’ in nature, where I imagine myself doing things other than doing my job/working, that I see as positive, which is according to memories from my childhood/past. I’m sure most people can relate to this, as so many are busy working in jobs that one doesn’t really want to do, but has to in order to make a living. This is the result of living in the Capitalist system, where the starting point of jobs/work/employment, is to make profits, not to actually provide real service to life, that will benefit life as all of humanity, nature and the animals which is our whole world and environment and home. And so, it’s not things that we would do, but have been trained to accept and really have no choice as one’s survival isn’t guaranteed, but has to be earned within the capitalist system, which doesn’t guarantee an effective income for everyone that participates in the system, as depending on the job you get, you might get enough to live or you might not, and this is accepted currently. And so we’ve created a very tough situation for ourselves, in which we’re able to be convinced to do jobs we’d rather not, because there’s really no choice, and it’s just for the sake of profit and not an actual benefit to humanity and life overall, and in fact, is leading to it’s destruction.

So, here some context in regards to why I am walking this process, and within that, why I’m specifically walking this point of Character/Personality toward working, to clear up my relationship toward the current system and how employment/working/jobs currently exist, in order that I can be most effective here, within the current situation we’ve created here on earth, as I realize that it is my relationship to/toward working that must firstly change and be sorted out within myself, before ‘work’ itself as the outer manifestation as jobs/employment in this world can change, since what’s manifested in this world is actually the reflection of who we are as the relationships we accept and allow within ourselves.

In the next post, we’ll continue with the Imagination Dimension of the ‘I Don’t Want to Do This’ Character, in relation to working/jobs/employment.
