Day 226: Caring - What's In It For Me?

Here we're continuing from a previous post - Day 224: What's the First Step to Caring For Real? For reference, here's where we left off from:

Something we don't tend to realize/be aware of is how much of the consequence we face in reality and in our relationships is a result of this simple point of separation, where we've formed a relationship toward each other of not caring, where we have justified even being nasty, spiteful, and even just apathetic toward others, and that's what I'll go into more in the next post to come, to see why is it that we would even want to care about others – to see what difference in one's own life would that make? So until then, you can start to simply become aware of these moments in your day to day living where you actually go into/participate in some form of separation/spitefulness toward another, as that is the first step to sorting ourselves out as a whole, which is going to have very positive results, as you'll see more in the next post.

So, why is it in our interest to care about others? It sure may not seem like it is in the moment, it's so easy to go into a point of spitefulness or nastiness as it's been so accepted as an underlying and automatic part of our nature and behavior. But, within this, we haven't yet effectively connected the dots between our behavior and the consequence of that behavior. With some things in life, consequence is remarkably obvious. Say for example, hitting your finger with a hammer, the consequence is immediate and direct – injury to your finger and most likely a good deal of pain. However, when it comes to human relations, the consequence is often more indirect. But once you see it, is still quite obvious.

I mean, we know that for most of us, ourselves included, life is no 'walk in the park'. We know that we have a tendency to be 'thrown off' by just one person being nasty to us, where we will say 'now my whole day is ruined'. We allow how others treat us, to affect us, and in turn, affect how we treat others. When someone is nasty to us, we become nasty ourselves, and don't even now notice who we're actually being nasty toward. You can see how this just perpetuates and endless cycle round and round, so that the next time you experience someone as being nasty to you – you really have to ask yourself, do I know what is going on in that person's life? What their day was like? What they're going through? Because, it's really usually not about you at all, as you can see for yourself, when you're in the same situation, in a reaction toward something that happened to you maybe earlier that day, and is affecting how you are interacting with others in a totally different moment.

When we stop the automatic reaction of taking things personally, we stop that cycle. Within this, not only do you gain a will power to not automatically get sucked into reactions that would then 'ruin your whole day', and in fact cause more consequence, but you will rather become more aware of what is actually going on in reality, see solutions more easily and have more of an understanding of what is going on around you. You'll have a self-stability to remain calm and prevent unnecessary stress, which can tear down your physical body. And you'll prevent a lot of unnecessary consequence in other's lives, which ultimately comes back to you in a direct and indirect way, through your own immediate interactions on a daily basis, and in general as we're doing less to antagonize others as well.

In addition to this, you develop an integrity with yourself where you know that you are no longer blindly adding to the problem, but are sorting yourself out and becoming the solution, no longer accepting and allowing yourself to justify spitefulness toward others. And this integrity would also come through in your relationships with others and will open up the opportunity to develop more substantial and stable relationships, since you've shown yourself to be someone who is actually trustworthy and consistent, meaning not like friendly one moment and nasty in another.

Here I would suggest taking the free DIP Course to assist and support yourself with getting more into the detail of how to walk this process of sorting out such patterns that we've automatically become that have become such a detriment to our living.

Day 221: Alcohol: Where Does Your Responsibility Go When You're Drunk?

Here's a google hangout with a ton of support and assistance for anyone who is addicted to alcohol: What They Didn't Tell You about Alcohol Addiction.
I definitely suggest to check it out. It covers a lot of important points related to alcohol consumption/addiction that you don't want to miss.

When we drink, a big reason for that is to drink away our responsibilities, to not have a care in the world, to be 'free' for a moment from whatever is bothering us about our lives that we don't know how to fix or deal with.

One thing I never questioned, was when I was drinking away my responsibility, where did it go? Did it just vanish into nowhere for a moment, without any consequence, like I would have liked to believe? Or was it simply that all I was doing was not actually escaping from my responsibilities, but was just putting blinders on so that I couldn't see it for a moment?

Working jobs in the service industry has also helped me to see and realize this point, where you have to occasionally interact with inebriated individuals, who can't really effectively interact or communicate, and it's like you have to baby-sit, in a way, and take responsibility for them, because they can't.

And so, that's how I started to realize where one's responsibility actually goes, some of it goes directly onto those around you who you interact with. And some of it also goes indirectly to others, through the consequences one creates, while not really being here and being responsible. One extreme case of this would obviously be those who are harmed or killed in car accidents due to someone driving drunk. I mean, that's a pretty obvious case where you can see and consider the effects that would have on all involved, not just those directly injured, but their families and friends and so on.

Another example is where we have big festivals or concerts where there is lots of drinking and probably also consumption of various other substances, and the aftermath is often a sea of garbage left behind for others to clean up.

And all the laboring of doctors and nurses who care for all the various injuries that come about as a result of alcohol consumption, such as the cars accidents, brawls, domestic violence, etc. Where all of that labor could obviously go to treating other things that aren't the result of the deliberate choice to forgo one's responsibility and basic motor skills functioning.

Within all this, it is never the alcohol that is to blame, it's just the tool we use to act out the decision to avoid our responsibility for a moment and disregard the consequences that we'll create, that not only affects others but ourselves as well, as it never leads to solutions for anything we're facing in our life, that we are trying to escape from. There are much less consequential ways to approach our living, to make it so our lives are something we wold not want to 'get away' from by intoxicating ourself.

I found it such a relief eventually to no longer feel like I needed or wanted alcohol to do something for me, where I found and established a self-stability where I don't 'require' a substance to for example 'relax' or change my experience in some way, because I'm fine being here as myself and facing reality head on, where inebriation would actually be quite a hindrance and waste of my time here, of which you only get so much.

So I'd suggest to make the time you have here count. And, to realize that in this you're not alone, there is support to walk through this every step of the way, which you can find here unconditionally at the Desteni forum, for not just stopping alcohol addiction, but any addiction, when you are ready to take yourself back and live for you. It's up to You.

I also suggest to take the Free DIP Lite course to learn essential life skills, that provide a solid foundation for facing life's problems in a practical and self-supportive way.

Day 220: Does Your Body Like What You Eat?

We have a lot of strange relationships to the food we eat. And the food we don't eat. In this recent google hangout Is it Possible to be Addicted to Eating Healthy?, perspectives are shared from individuals about various food/health addictions, including June, who had spent years being vegan and a raw foodist and even experimenting with 'breatharianism' – the idea that you can survive almost entirely off of air alone.

Now, in simplicity, food is nourishment for the body, but we've gone and complicated or warped this, through developing some strange relationships to food. So, when we take a step back and look at what are the underlying motives for how and what we eat or don't eat, that is where we find the relationships that were the starting point of our decisions. So, like in the google hangout, when June investigated her starting point for having become vegan, for example, what she found was that that decision was actually based in fear, because she'd seen and heard information that said that eating animals is 'bad' and the people who were proponents of various healthy diets looked so 'healthy' and 'glowing' that she wanted to stop eating animals out of fear and the desire to look good and healthy too.

In my life, I also went through some similar relationships to food just in a lesser degree. I went through a brief time of trying to be vegetarian, and a time of experimenting with raw foods, and 'organic' foods. And I found the same thing within my starting point, was that it was actually fear based, based on videos I had watched which said that eating meat was bad for you, or that eating organic foods or raw foods was good for you.

What's interesting about ideas or diet mentalities such as 'veganism' and vegetarianism' or 'raw foodism', is how we can live these as a 'lifestyle', where it becomes like a self definition of 'who we are', where it's based on the information one has come across and the presentation of a certain diet, and it's like we thought 'yeah that sounds so right', and then from there, we decide to try and put ourself and our body into this diet idea. Which is, interestingly, quite backwards, because what we're doing is trying to impose an idea onto our physical that sounded good to us, but yet we really actually have very little effective understanding of how our body functions and operates in any kind of detail. When really you've got to cross-reference things with the physical, and observe the actual physical feedback. The physical body is a complex thing, and diets tend to be presented as 'absolutes', as if the information applies to everyone/will work for everyone, yet there's no way they can take into account each and every person's individual human body, which aren't all exactly the same.

What's so often missing from the information presented out there, is that point of cross-referencing/testing the information for yourself, to see if it actually works for you. And on top of that, what's taken for granted is if one has been eating a certain way for a long time, if you make sudden dramatic changes to your diet it can be quite problematic, and the feedback you get will not be so accurate while the body is going through such extreme changes, until it manages to finally balance things out. So, that is a very important point to take into consideration, that I hardly ever see mentioned/discussed by proponents of various diets.

Like as June mentioned in the google hangout about her experiences with fasting in trying to live the idea of breatharianism, we tend to even ignore the suffering that we are putting our own physical body through. Breatharianism is really a great example of all of this because it is so extreme, and therefore seems a little more obvious, because we really do need food to live and function. So from looking at that example, we can use that to see what we are doing when we take an idea and try to live it, and disregard the actual physical needs or what is actually best for the physical, or even the state of the physical based on it's entire history/life and what it has been through/exposed to or conditions that it has developed, which can all effect how and with what the body requires to be nourished now.

So we'll go up to here for now, and in the next post, I'll continue and share about how, with the tools provided in DIP, I sorted out the relationships I was living toward food/eating to take a more holistic and supportive approach with food as nourishment.

Day 219: Is Your Identity Bought?

I recently participated in a google hangout on Shopping Addiction that was really cool and here is a link to it so you can watch it: How To Tell if You Are A Shopaholic?

In this discussion a very cool point was brought up by Anna in relation to shopping addiction and one of the reasons behind why we would shop and buy things we don't necessarily need. This was the point of buying an 'identity' for yourself, or 'upgrading' oneself by buying new things and feeling like they are somehow going to make you better, like a better version of yourself, in a way. And I could really directly relate to that point as well, as that was also the primary point I found within myself, driving me to go shopping and buy things I didn't necessarily need.

We didn't get to open that point up in the hangout in the time that we had, so I'm opening it up within this post to look at this point in more detail, as I'm sure that there are many out there who would also share this same point, as it's really the foundation of the consumerism we've become on a large collective scale. Because it's easy to see that happening from a distance, in a way, like it's easy to see how as a whole we are consuming way more than we need, yet it's quite another thing to actually find the points within oneself, that is leading to this behavior on an individual level.

So, I did indeed find this very point within myself when I started investigating this point for myself of what is what that I was looking to gain from shopping. It's like I wanted to buy something that would make me feel better, like I am better or my life is better in some way because I have bought and acquired something that is going to improve me in some way, which when you look at it, all sounds really bizarre, doesn't it? Like how can a thing, actually make me or my life better? How can some object actually make me a better person or change who I am? Like, if I have this thing, then that means that I am somehow a better person, more effective, more attractive, more in-style, and basically have more/higher 'status'.

But what I had to realize is that no matter what I bought or possessed, it never did actually change me, as who I am. I was still always the same. And once that item wore out or broke, then I would feel depleted in some way, like I lost whatever I thought that item was giving me, because I'd used it to define myself and who I am.

So it's like, I made myself a slave to objects, in a way, because who I am would change in relation to what objects/possessions I would have, or wouldn't have. Where if I lacked possessions, or if what I had like for example with clothing, if the clothes that I had weren't in style, then I felt less and inferior and like society is going to judge me and see me as less/having less status.

And all of this is really bizarre, when you consider how there are places in the world where this definition according to what you have just cannot exist, in places that are poor and therefore less commercialized, where it's simply not possible to buy new/modern/in style products because they don't exist, and so you can't form an identity/self definition based on clothing and accessories.

When you place all this into perspective, and really get to see how we believe that we are somehow 'improved' or more 'superior' based on such things, you really see just how strange that is, like we are dressing up for a costume show and pretending we really are the character we're dressing up as, and like life is our personal movie and we are the star of the show. But once you can distinguish between the actual personal and the fake cover-up, it really is strange to see what we believe and have given power to have an affect on us. It's almost like the clothes are wearing the human, and the human is just acting out the role they've selected according to the style they've chosen. Very strange stuff.

Because I also noticed how with wearing different clothes and accessories, I would actually experience myself differently, and even act differently, based on what kind of clothes I was wearing, as if the clothes/outfit somehow gave me 'permission' to play a certain role. Like dressing 'sexy' for example. An interesting experiment would be to see if/how you change when wearing different clothes/accessories, to see how one has defined oneself according to what one wears, and to consider what if you didn't have those things to define yourself, who would you be?

Through uncovering these points for myself, I have been able to stop defining myself according to what I have, and therefore to no longer be, in effect, mind/behavior controlled according to what I have/don't have, so that who I am no longer changes without my direction according to my possessions, and through this building a me that is constant and stable and not requiring products to have a sense of self-worth or self-esteem, because it's ideas like that, where we believe that we need things outside of ourself to complete us, that really feeds consumerism. For a great documentary series on that, suggest to watch The Century of the Self, which shows the history of advertisement and how it was deliberately created in order to give individuals that very idea that you require some product to fulfill or enhance you as a person and that products can change the way you feel and experience yourself, and so this idea did not even come from ourselves, but has been impulsed through media until we took it on as our own self-belief.

Day 179: Turns Out You CAN Buy Happiness - IF You Have MONEY

Featured Artwork by Matti Freeman

Turns out you can buy happiness! New research shows the richer are the happier you'll be
New research not only confirms what most would call common sense - that it's more fun to have a lot of money than to scrape by with little - but can tell you exactly how much happiness each dollar will buy you.
A new discussion paper from researchers Daniel. W. Sacks, Betsey Stevenson, and Justin Woflers title 'The New Stylized Facts about Income and Subjective Well-Being' tracks happiness in comparison with income and what we buy with our money.
Their findings graph exactly how much you need to increase your income to affect your happiness and where you can find the happiest people in the world.
Among 122 countries interviewed on well-being in a gallup world poll against a nation's real GDP per capita (and adjusted for purchasing power) found that well-being rises with income at all income levels in every country.
Therefor, rich countries are happier than poorer countries.
It also found that you need to increase your income by consistent percentages to feel happier about a raise.
For instance, if you doubled your income from $30,000 to $60,000 you'd need to double it again to $120,000 to get the same feeling of elation rather than simply add another $30,000.
And while you need increasingly higher and higher jumps in income to get the same satisfaction, there isn't a plateau where the feeling will level out. You can always be happier if you can get the money.
The research also showed that satisfaction could rise steadily if income levels rose steadily.
Interestingly, while the U.S. economy has doubled in size since the early 1970s, its self-reported happiness has been declining.
That could be attributed to the growing economic disparity between the wealthy and the poor.
The author's noted that in European countries, 'the inequality has increased by half' the amount it has in the U.S.

Yes, Money is required to buy Happiness. We all already know this, but many will deny it, the simple fact that money is required to have any kind of a life that one can enjoy here, and that money and how much you have directly determines your quality of life. I mean, this is obvious, it’s how we’ve designed this system to operate – you need money to buy things. In fact, you need money to buy almost anything. Yet we only ‘know’ this as knowledge and information, as we haven’t done anything about it in actual reality, like changing our money system so that it does in fact support everyone to have the best life.

There’s the quote “Money can’t buy happiness” which is often used as justification to accept the economic system the way it is, as a reason why apparently you don’t need money to buy happiness. But this in terms of happiness as a mental state, wherein what is being implied is that – even with money you can still be unhappy. Basically because you can still drive yourself nuts in your mind, regardless of your financial position. And this is used to justify allowing poverty to continue by implying that money is thus not the key ingredient in being happy, when we know full well that without money you are going to go through real actual physical suffering, and that while you can change how you experience yourself internally, if you have no money, it is a physical problem, which cannot be stopped by changing your mindset.

Yet, the human does not currently have effective directive ability of their own minds and are subject to all sorts of thoughts, feelings and emotions, and from that perspective, there is a lot of mental suffering as a result of being in extreme financial situations, where you don’t know how you are going to survive or pay the next bill, or how you will afford to pay the fee if the electric company shuts you off, or how to give your children the best life possible. How will you afford to send them to college? Or even to just put enough nutrition on the table for them every day, get the proper healthcare they need when they get sick, etc. There does not yet exist any kind of worldwide support system to assist people with directing their inner experiences yet, except for the Desteni I Process so far, which has been developing this for years already, which now offers a free course with buddy support which covers the fundamentals of how to direct one’s thoughts and reactions.

So, because most humans do not have a directive ability of one’s mind, one is susceptible to one’s environment, and thus by not ensuring everyone has enough money, we are in fact responsible for allowing both physical and mental suffering to take place, and when it is totally unnecessary. Why allow a very tiny amount of people to have way more money than is necessary so that all the rest, the vast majority which is billions of beings, can live lives of inferior quality and support? Why allow children to not get the most effective education? The best healthcare? The children become the adults that is us that walk this earth and ought to be the custodians of the earth, but they turn out to be the abusers of the earth just like those that have gone before as we teach each following generation the same principles, the same ignorance and disregard of life.

The U.S. Constitution states everyone is entitled to the pursuit of happiness as an unalienable right. Therefore we are directly violating the Constitution to not ensure that everyone has enough money to be happy, as we know that without money, they will not be able to pursue happiness.

Thus why this current Capitalist system requires revamping, so that it is actually in-line with the very principles it is supposed to uphold, and the promises it has made to make life better for the individual, when everywhere you look more and more individuals are doing worse and worse. Within Equal Money Capitalism, you will have the money to send your child to college, you will have the money to get the most effective healthcare when you need for you or your family, you will have the best quality car, the best quality house, the best quality food that are not made to contain poisons like we have today, you will have the best environment, as nature will have the best care, you will have the Best Rights as an Individual that will have ever existed.

  • Day 171: Board Games as Tool for Brainwashing (Part 2)

In this post we’re going to now continue with taking a look at the topic of board games. In the previous post, we touched on how board games relate to the world system, in terms of the basic principles involved, namely the primary concept that most games are based on where only one player is a winner the rest are losers, or you have a 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place sort of hierarchy, where still only one is at the ‘top’ position, and everyone else is at varying levels below that. Which is basically representative of a ‘class system’ where you have those at the very ‘top’ in the ‘highest’ position, and everyone in varying degrees below that, like we currently have with the general ‘classes’ of the elite, a very small amount of people who are the ‘winners’ that are ‘at the top’ and have the most luxurious lifestyle, and then you have those who are in a ‘middle class’ position who have most of their basic needs met and are living in relative comfort, and then those in poverty who do not have their needs met.

Within this, it’s not to say that board games are the cause of our nature in accepting the current system to be of inequality, but simply that we’ve utilized them as a tool to assist in the acceptance of inequality as a normal thing. Thus it’s not to stop playing board games, as that will not change our acceptance of inequality, we as individuals have to come to the realization for ourselves, that inequality is not effective as it creates conflict, consequence, disharmony. It is always ourselves that have decided what we will support or not, board games have only serves as a prop that we utilized as a platform in which to present inequality as normal, as if we accept it on a small scale within ourself, is to accept it on the large scale within the world as a whole.

Thus it’s to transform ourselves within what is here, like for example board games, from a starting point of simply going along with and accepting what is presented within board games, and to question and consider what it is that our board games show about ourselves, and through this actually get to know ourselves as who we really are and how we’ve been existing.

Another point we can see reflected of ourselves within board games, is how the primary design is each individual being is out for themselves, or the game is played in teams, where each team is out for itself, and players are thus divided up into opposing parts. Which is precisely how we exist currently, where it is every man for himself, there is no overall point of support, where we are altogether working to ensure all are taken care of effectively as one as a whole as all of humanity, but we are divided into countries, gangs, families, circles of friends, clubs, interest groups, religions, where we do not all stand together, but stand separated within our separate ‘teams’ where we only consider those few who are a part of our daily world, and our consideration does not extend beyond that.

And even within that, we primarily only consider ourself, and everything we look at in this world is from within/as a perspective of ourselves as an individual separate from everything else/everyone, where we’re always looking out for what is best for me, without considering the whole of exist, and the effect I have on existence, and whether what I want for myself is going to cause harm and disharmony for others. We don’t see ourself as a part of the whole, we don’t see that we are in fact part of the whole, and there is no way to not be part of the whole, as if you’re here you are here, and what you do/say/live is going to have an effect here.

A great interview series to listen to in relation to this is the Soul of Money series on Eqafe, which walks through in amazing detail how our current system functions and provides fascinating perspectives into how it is we as humanity have been functioning and existing in separation when we are actually all here, and what the consequences of living in such a way has been, so a must hear set of interviews that give one vast insight into the workings of this reality.

What’s interesting to consider is what if we had games where the starting point is where everyone is on the same team and functions as a whole, where everyone is working together for the same goal. So it’s not that we must then ‘throw away’ the games we have, but we can utilize them in the process of self transformation, to explore and get to know who we are within them. Where, for example, you can utilize playing board games as a point for self investigation, where you can see what kind of reactions/experiences come up within and while playing board games, to get to see how/where self has taken on and lived points of separation within/as oneself.

I would at this point, recommend that one take the Desteni I Process Lite course, if you haven’t already, which is a free course, to get a fundamental understanding of what are thoughts/reactions/feelings/emotions and develop the ability to effectively work with them and direct one’s experience, as this will provide a well-rounded point of reference for when one is then participating in self investigation so that self has a starting point for what to do with the information that one will find out about oneself, in terms of how to then effectively align one’s living to that which is supportive of self and life.

In the post to come, we’ll walk Self Forgiveness on the points discussed in this and the previous post, to assist with taking self responsibility for what we have discovered of ourselves and how we exist through taking a look at the manifestation of board games and what this has shown about ourselves, as what we’ve accepted and allowed to exist in this world, because we’ve accepted and allowed it within ourselves, thus taking it to an individual level of self correction, and not, for example, ‘blaming board games’, as they are just a reflection of who we are as our accepted nature.
